moleskine mail art exchange

Over the past year, I've been participating in a Moleskine Mail Art exchange, organized by Andrea (Big A) Martinez. The photos included in this post, show some of the most recent work I've been doing, in this case, in two gigantic watercolor Moleskine books. Last night I finished two big Splotch Monster dragons, which I'll post in their entirety here soon, inspired by Asian-style dragons - something I've been fascinated by since participating in a dragon march at the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Arts Festival when I was six. I also remember a wonderful skit on Sesame Street, about finding four hidden Japanese dragons in a painting, as a young boy.

There have been a few kinks to work out along the way, with this exchange, including a couple folks who had to drop out, among other things, which is to be expected. The great part about getting involved in a project like this is getting to see the work of other artists, as well as contribute your own work to the artists as well. I'm going to try and post some sneak peek pics of some of their work at my Go Flying Turtle art blog soon, as well.
