new prints, smudge expo, books and other found things, amazing marvels & magic bullet, whew!

Just recently I got a big batch of some beautiful new Splotch Monster prints made, courtesy of Alpha Graphics in Leesburg, VA. I decided it was time to create some prints of some of my all time personal faves, most of which have been sold as original works for at least ten times the price of a print. While they aren't the original thing, they're the next best thing, and I decided only to sign these prints upon request. If you would like to see them for sale in person, and are in the DC area, stop by the first annual SMUDGE! Expo event at Artisphere in Arlington, VA on Saturday, March 8. I'll have these, along with all types of other Splotch Monster goodness for sale at a special SMUDGE! Expo discounted price. There will be over fifty outstanding artists selling their work at SMUDGE! from noon to 6PM Saturday, as well as a handful of panel discussions and workshops going on throughout the day. If you would like to create your own Splotch Monster at SMUDGE!, I'll be holding a hands-on workshop in the Artisphere classroom from 1PM - 1:50PM. I sure hope to see you there! In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for new prints and more for sale at the Splotch Monster Island online shop as well in the coming weeks.

Also on Saturday, March 8, from 1-4PM is the opening reception for the Amazing Marvels show at the Off-Rhode Gallery, presented by Art Enables. I'll have my new Splotch Monster piece "Balancing Act" in the exhibit, as well as another painting. From what I was told, it's shaping up to be a pretty spectacular show. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it opening day, due to tabling at SMUDGE!, however the show will go on up through April 19th. Perhaps drop by SMUDGE! then check out Off-Rhode afterwards, or vise versa. Either way, it'll be an excellent Saturday in DC for art!

While you're out and about, pick up your free copy of DC's own comics art newspaper, Magic Bullet, now in its eighth volume. The cover art this time is by your's truly, and the work inside is fantastic, as the local talent continues to raise the bar with each issue.

Magic Bullet #8 can now be found at the following establishments (from left to right, top to bottom): Bean Bar (Leesburg, VA), Market Street Coffee (Purcellville, VA), LoCo Joe's (Purcellville, VA), Hypnocoffee (Shepherdstown, WV), Blue Moon Cafe (Shepherdstown, WV), Books and Other Found Things (Leesburg, VA), and King Street Coffee (Leesburg, VA). Thank you for carrying our fine publication, free to the public!

Lastly, if you're in the Leesburg, VA area next Friday, March 7th, come out for the First Friday gallery walk events. I'll be at Books and Other Found Things doing a Splotch Monster-making workshop from  6PM - 9PM that evening, which is always a fun time!
